How AI is changing office suites
While composing an email, you see autocomplete suggestions that match your writing style. When you insert an image into a presentation, the software makes cropping and layout suggestions. If you forget to respond to an important message, it reappears at the top of your inbox with a reminder.
Google’s G Suite, Microsoft Office and other productivity suites are increasingly adding machine learning and artificial intelligence features to automate and personalize repetitive tasks, like replying to email or scheduling meetings. Where’s Apple’s collaboration service?
There’s one glaring gap in Apple’s plan to transition to a services company – the lack of enterprise services. The collaboration market, for instance, is one of the biggest growth sectors in enterprise software. Given that Apple currently dominates the enterprise mobility market, it’s surprising that it’s made little effort to take on the likes of Slack or Microsoft Teams.
That absence is even more surprising when you realize the company does already offer bits and pieces of a collaboration system.
